Lone Star Ember is a Houston, Texas-based independent music collective that skillfully blends raw storytelling, heartfelt Texas grit, and innovative AI-assisted production. Founded by Army veteran John Ray Crawford (Houston, TX), this project features Crawford on guitar, alongside talented guitarist Christopher Lee Garcia on select tracks, with Nixie Ember contributing raspy vocals. This dynamic creates original songs with authentic soundscapes, rooted in live instrumentation and enhanced by AI for elements like background vocals and steel drums.
From high-energy country and gospel anthems to Alt Rock, introspective indie pop, and genre-blending gems, Lone Star Ember delivers music that evokes the feeling of open-road drives—defiant, emotional, and real. Fiercely independent and always evolving.

Nixie Ember is the bold, heartfelt voice and creative spark behind many of our favorite tracks within our music collective. As a queer indie artist and digital advocate, she masterfully utilizes AI-assisted production to craft lo-fi bedroom indie, sapphic lullabies, conscious reggae, and emotional anthems that resonate deeply with themes of queer joy, mental health recovery, and the girls who feel everything profoundly.
With original songs featuring lyrics and melodies that reach straight to the soul, Nixie infuses every collaboration with vulnerability, strength, and unfiltered authenticity. Whether she’s delivering tender country ballads or empowering bops, her energy truly lights up the music.
